Google's Nexus 7 tablet does not have a rear-facing camera, just a 1.2-megapixel front-facing shooter for face-to-face video chat. That makes the device incompatible with most Android camera apps, including Instagram. According to Tim Smalley, digital marketing manager of Asus (Google's manufacturing partner for Nexus 7), Google Play app store will actually provide an error message if the owner tries to download the app to the Nexus 7.
The absence of a back camera is largely due to cost-cutting.
