In the second quarter this year, tablet shipments grew 36% sequentially and 77% year-over-year, with Apple's iPad shipping 17 million units and amounting for nearly 69% of the global tablet market. The Cupertino-based company wasn't the only manufacturer that showed growth, however, as Samsung (005930) and ASUS (2357) both recorded increases of 8.1% and 4% respectively, while shipments from RIM (RIMM) fell 1%.
