The evolution of the F1 car through the eyes of a child

The evolution of the F1 car through the eyes of a child

Formula One racecars have changed a lot over the years, and you can tell that much just by looking at them. Engines have moved to the back, cylinder counts have changed, tires have gotten wider, centers of gravity lowered to within an inch of the ground, aerodynamics have dictated the form, sponsor liveries have replaced national racing colors. All this in gradual increments until we get to the jet fighters on wheels that we know today. This may not be the first animated video we've seen showing just how the changes have occurred, and we still really dig the last one.

Huawei Ascend Mate 2 Gets Certified To Go On Sale In China

Huawei, the Chinese manufacturer of smartphones that seem to be getting better and better, has just had its Ascend Mate 2 to receive certification so that it can go on sale in China. The body that regulates such certification is TENAA, which is more or less the equivalent of the FCC here in the US. It is always nice to see products go through the certification process, since we will more often than not, be treated to additional photos from various angles and perhaps more information on the upcoming specifications.

Motorola Releases Active Display Update To Fix Lock Screen Lag Bug

Motorola Releases Active Display Update To Fix Lock Screen Lag Bug

Motorola's Active Display made it to the Google Play Store a couple of months ago. The feature makes it much more easier for users to keep up with notifications on their Motorola smartphones, they don't have to wake up the screen or push any buttons to see if they have missed any notifications. Information appears on the screen by itself, quietly, so users can easily catch up with what they have missed or simply see what the time is. Today Motorola has released an update for Active Display which fixes the lock screen lag bug that had been irking quite a lot of users.

Low-end Nokia Lumia Device With 4.5-inch Display Sighted

As amazing high-end devices can get, with their shiny designs and superfast processors and amazing cameras, they do tend to be rather pricey which is why sometimes some users have no choice but to opt for a low or mid-ranged handset. Well according to the Zauba website, word has it that Nokia could have a low-end 4.5" device on the way. This is according to a listing for a certain RM-977 and revealed that the device had been imported from Finland for testing.

Fallout 4 Website Turns Out To Be Fake

Bad news folks, if you were hoping for Fallout 4 to be announced in the near future, prepare to be disappointed. It turns out that the website, The Survivor 2299, was revealed to be an elaborate hoax pulled off by someone of the Fallout community. However given the complexity of the hoax, such as updating it with morse code that made references to the game, we guess it can't be helped that many bought into it. The website was launched back in NovemberĂ‚ and shortly after, the Fallout 4 trademark was filed, although the trademark was soon disproved and turned out to be a fake.

Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo to see life as rebodied SLS?

Most of the cars created exclusively for the Gran Turismo video game franchise never make the jump from cyberspace to the real world. The X1 and new X2014 designed by Red Bull's Adrian Newey could scarcely be piloted in real life, and while PSA talked about making a limited run of the otherworldly GTbyCitroën, that never came to be. But the Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo could get such a chance – just not from Mercedes-Benz itself.

US Navy Launches UAV From Submarine

US Navy Launches UAV From Submarine

One good thing about submarines is this – they can be silent predators of the sea, moving around from coast to coast while carrying a whole lot of nuclear firepower, making it a potential threat to any enemy country. Well, it seems that the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) with funding from SwampWorks at the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the Department of Defense Rapid Reaction Technology Office (DoD/RRTO) has managed to put all of that money to good use by introducing an all-electric, fuel cell-powered, unmanned aerial system (UAS) which can be launched from a submerged submarine.

Lightstrap Turns Your iPhone Into A Flash Ring

Lightstrap Turns Your iPhone Into A Flash Ring

When it comes to low-light photography with our smartphones, most phones tend to struggle, save for the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the LG G2, both of which appear to handle low-light photography relatively well, albeit somewhat noisier than I would have like, personally. For those who don't enjoy the noise on their photos, using flash would be the next best thing, although in most case using flash results in harsh photos, which Apple has attempted to correct in the iPhone 5s. Well if you're sick of having bad photos in low-light situations or night shots, then the Lightstrap is definitely a Kickstarter project worth checking out.

"Apple Picking" Is A New Smartphone Theft Technique You Need To Be Aware Of

Smartphone thefts are not new and we have seen how Apple and other companies have tried to mitigate this with anti-theft measures, such as Find my iPhone and Activation Lock being some of them, but it seems that in New York City and St. Louis, a new method of snatching iPhones has been uncovered which has led to the technique being coined, "Apple Picking". Basically it involves the thief approaching the victim and asking for the time, which admittedly seems innocent enough, but if you don't wear a watch, the next best thing would be to pull your phone from your pocket, right.

How often do you use Bluetooth connectivity in your everyday life. Well, if you are an avid fan of this kind of wireless connectivity, then I am quite sure that you would have done your bit to follow up on the various Bluetooth peripherals that have been revealed in the past, not to mention the version of Bluetooth that they support. When Bluetooth 4.0 rolled around, this wireless technology enabled one to make a leap that paved the way for low energy consumption even when they remain connected to supported accessories. This would in turn ensure that devices such as smart watches and health trackers would have a stretched out battery life.

iOS 7 Adoption Rate Now At 74.1%

Apple's iOS 7 was released back in September earlier this year and in about a week since its launch, the operating system managed to achieve an adoption rate of 52% by iOS users, but it seems that adoption rates might have slowed down a tad. According to Chitika's recent numbers, they have revealed that iOS 7 is now installed on 74.1% on all iOS devices, although this is significantly faster compared to iOS 6's adoption rate. Back in 2012, iOS 6 took about 6 months before hitting the 83% mark, so for iOS 7 to hit 74.1% in 2 months, we suspect it should have no problem beating iOS 6's adoption rate in the next couple of months.

Audi confirms new Q1 to cross over into smaller territory

The latest Q3 is smaller in every dimension than the Q7 that launched Audi into the crossover back in 2006. It's over two feet shorter, four inches narrower, five inches lower and rides on a wheelbase that's nearly a foot and a half shorter. But in Audi's eyes, it's still not small enough. That's why the German automaker has just confirmed that it will proceed with production of the oft-rumored Q1 crossover.

HTC and Nokia are in the middle of a patent spat right now, with the former being accused of violating the latter'sĂ‚ EP 0 998 024 patent in the UK. The patent details a “modular structure for a transmitter and a mobile station,” which specifically ties into the HAAC microphones HTC has been using in many of their latest phones. The High Courts of England have found that HTC has infringed on the patent, and has such granted Nokia with a temporary injunction on sales in the UK for devices which violate the documents.

With only a month left before 2013 draws to a close, HTC has unveiled a handful of new devices which are destined for the Taiwanese market. The HTC Desire 700 and HTC Desire 501 are completely new devices in HTC's lineup, but the Desire 601 and 300 are practically the same as the phones HTC showed off at IFA a few months back. As with previous phones in the desire family, HTC is pushing the premium design features of the HTC One down stream. The HTC Desire 700 could easily be mistaken for a large HTC One mini, but its low resolution 5-inch qHD display will certainly set it apart from HTC's premium devices.

In the past couple of months, we have heard the rumors of Google reportedly preparing some barges near the docks in which Google later admitted was theirs, and that it would be used to help the company demonstrate new products, such as Google Glass for example. It's definitely a unique concept when it comes to retail space and given Apple's dominance in retail, with numerous Apple retail outlets around the world, we suppose Google could use the upper hand, at least as far as inventiveness is concerned. However it seems that Google might be running into some legal hurdles with their barges.

In fact, the country is all set to launch a probe to the moon this coming December 2nd, and the probe will be known as the Chang'e-3, as it takes off from Xichang.
