Apple Won't Pursue Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini In Court

Apple Won't Pursue Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini In Court

It has been reported by Reuters that Apple will be dropping patent claims against new Samsung phone known as the Galaxy S3 mini, but of course, this is not because Apple is still in the spirit of Christmas, but rather, after Samsung claimed that they will not be offering the Galaxy S3 mini for sale in the strategic US market. I wonder whether this will hold true for Apple in other countries where the Galaxy S3 mini is sold, and there is a sizeable presence of the iPhone there. This particular agreement was disclosed by Apple in a filing on Friday in U.S. District Court in San Jose, California.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition Considered For PS3 Release

One of the more acclaimed RPGs (Role Playing Game) back in the 1990s on the PC platform was the Baldur's Gate series, and it is safe to assume that no true fan of the genre has forgotten that name, in fact, reading this might actually cause you to fire up the game yet again to give it a go. There are certain quarters who have little or no regard for Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance titles for the PS2, as it has been considered by purists to be dumbed-down versions of the original PC classic(s), and those assumptions do have their merit.

Sailfish OS Demonstrated

Jolla's Meego-based Sailfish operating system for mobile devices has just received a rather extensive video demonstration, where more attention is paid to its features. This operating system is still a work in progress, where it was first shown off on Nokia N950 developer smartphone, which is the logical choice considering how most of the folks behind the Sailfish project used to be Nokia employees. Intuitive hand gestures are the order of the day for this operating system, and the implementation of it allows you to make one handed use, never mind of the device's screen size.

Panasonic VS-HPS200S Cordless Phone and Tablet

With the popularity of smartphones and mobile phones today, it seems that landline phones may be moving on towards the road to obscurity. With mobile phones becoming handy, why would there be a need for a landline phone. While people can still offer a variety of reasons, it is becoming common for people to prefer getting a mobile phone than having a landline set up at home. But for those who still find them relevant, there are makers like Panasonic that still try to find a way to convince more and more people to still have landlines at home.

PlayStation 2 Discontinued in Japan

PlayStation 2 Discontinued in Japan

It is another sad, sad day in video game history. After close to 13 years of entertaining gamers young and old, casual and hardcore, Sony has announced that it has officially halted production and shipment of PlayStation 2 in Japan. This means that once the few thousands of PS2 units have been depleted, it will never be replenished… ever, at least in the Land of the Rising Sun. During its almost 13-year run, over 150 million PlayStation 2 units were sold all over the world, making it the best-selling gaming console in history.

Volkswagen has jilted American enthusiasts once, by denying them the chance to pilot the Scirocco in the US. This news comes from AskAVWSalesGuy.com. As you may have guessed, it is a blog written by a Volkswagen salesperson.

More car dealers capping finance and insurance products amidst ethics concerns

Automotive News reports a larger number of dealers are scaling back the markup on their finance and insurance products as well as aftermarket service plans in an effort to avoid the ire of regulators. There are no industry numbers on how many dealers use self-imposed caps on how much they can charge their customers for these services, but Automotive News polled dealers in an independent survey. Of those who responded, around two-thirds say they use caps, with two-thirds of those who do attributing the restrictions to ethical concerns.

Is the Samsung SGH-T999L an LTE Galaxy S3 for T-Mobile?

Thanks to a recent sighting at the Bluetooth SIG website, a certain Samsung SGH-T999L has been sighted. Considering that the SGH-T999 is T-Mobile's version of the Samsung Galaxy S3, the inclusion of the "L" at the end of the name has some speculating that perhaps this might be the LTE version of the Galaxy S3 designated for T-Mobile's network. At the moment T-Mobile is the only  one of the four major carriers not to offer LTE.

We all know about the Terminator movie series, but if you were a goose, surely you will hear of the Goosinator robot soon. No, this is not one robot that eliminates geese for fun, but rather, the Goosinator is a bright orange colored robot that is being tested at the moment to ensure that geese do not loaf around the same place for too long a time. Basically, a single goose is capable of dropping a minimum of one pound of poop each day, and when you multiply that by flock after flock, and it would have turned out to be a gross and expensive problem.

It's not just your imagination – insurance premiums in the United States are still higher for men than they are for women. According to a recent study of 5,000 quotes conducted by Onlineautoinsurance.com (OAI), auto insurance quotes for men are still about 23 percent pricier than women's on average. Plus, if a man and a woman with the identical driver profiles (same driving record, age and vehicle) received quotes for the same coverage, the man's quote would be more expensive 62 percent of the time.

It is better to try to keep a bad thing from happening than to fix the bad thing once it has happened. The New York Police Department is on a quest to figure out ways to identify potential "deranged" gunmen on the Internet, in an effort to avoid hapless events, such as the tragic Connecticut school shooting, where in 26 people were killed, mostly children. In a statement, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said that the techniques would include cyber-searches of language that mass-casualty shooters have used in e-mails and Internet postings.

Did a US automaker blow the whistle on Hyundai, Kia fuel economy issue?

In all of the most hotly contested mainstream segments of the motoring universe, the difference of one mile per gallon averaged on a widow sticker can mean the difference between a sale and a walk-off – to say nothing of two or three mpg. So, when Hyundai and Kia were forced to reveal that many of their 40-mpg ratings were actually 38s and 37s, well, it made for big news. It also, conceivably, made for a competitive disadvantage immediately, when the Korean automakers' products were being shopped versus the guys down the block.

The 2014 BMW M4 might look this good

Once BMW unveiled its all-new 4 Series coupe, we knew it wouldn't take long for digital renderings of the more powerful M4 version to hit the Internet. Not only did F30Post find some great Photoshop images of the expected M4, created by a digital artist going by the handle Wild Speed, it also compiled a good amount of information both from sources and educated hunches. While it doesn't take much to imagine what the M4 will look like based on the styling of current M cars and recent spy shots, these renders finally give us something to ogle at until the car finally arrives.

Sony's PlayStation 3 shaped bento box looks pretty cool

Sony's PlayStation 3 shaped bento box looks pretty cool

If you're a fan of Japanese culture, the Sony PlayStation 3, or collectibles, it looks like Sony might have something that combines all three aspects together. As you can see in the image above, upon first glance it looks like an oddly designed PlayStation 3 console, but in reality it is actually a bento box that has been shaped and carved to resemble the PlayStation 3. It seems that as a thank you to the Final Fantasy and Metal Gear series, Sony will be launching a special character bento. We're not sure what the actual meal is, but this is apparently the box that the food will go into.
